Today I learned that the Japanese and English (and a few others) language councils are discussing on changing how Japanese words and names appear in English. Due to how languages are written, it’s definitly understandable why these are currently being looked at. Take Abe for example. In English this is viewed as “Abe” like Abraham. But it’s also “Ah-Bé” such as the Japanese prime minister Shinzō Abe. There is currently little information on how they are currently going to rewrite the entire Japanese language in English, but the basic idea and desire to have it done has already gotten the idea and support to start the groundwork in rewriting it.
